Elope Now, Party Later

Elope With Us, Party Later!

One of the biggest wedding trends from the pandemic that has carried into 2022 is the idea to elope now and party later. Even though we’re returning to business as usual in most of the world, this trend seems to be sticking. It might not be for everyone, but we are here for those who want some time in between the alter and afterparty.

You don’t have to wait

Let’s face it, we have waited two years to party. With everything opening back up and only so many weekends available, it seems like everyone has already rescheduled their chance to say “I do” well into 2023. And if you’re scrolling through reservations and calling every church, banquet hall, and venue only to be met with “sorry, we’re all booked,” it might feel like your nuptials are never going to happen. That’s why a lot of couples are opting to elope now and party later, so they don’t have to wait to say, “I do”.

Grab your loved one and head on down to Wolfville to seal the deal.

Best of both worlds

While elopements are quick, easy, and more intimate, they typically come with a few disgruntled family members who might feel cheated out of a celebration. But this “elope now, party later” trend might be the perfect compromise. As a couple, you get the private ceremony you crave, with personal vows and a day truly about you and your love. Then, either the same night or a year later, you can have the big dance floor and all-night rager with your friends and family. After all, a marriage is a milestone moment that everyone wants to celebrate.

Less pressure, less stress

Ask any married couple, and they’ll probably tell you their wedding planning was incredibly stressful. You can say goodbye to the angst, anticipation, or jitters about bringing your families together with an elopement. There are no arguments or hurt feelings about where, when, who, and how. No seating plans to obsess over or expensive wedding attire to fork out dough on. On your big day, all you have to worry about is getting married. You’ll have loads of time to take photos without rushing to a ceremony and say goodbye to nerves about your vows because they will only be spoken in front of a miniature guest list! There’s just you and your partner and the love you share for one another. Then when it comes to your party, you’ll be able to focus on actually having a good time since you already tied the knot.

You make the rules!

Eloping gives you an escape from the etiquette and expectations of a wedding, and the same goes for the after-party. If you still want to enjoy all the trimmings of a traditional ceremony and reception, you can. But if low-key and laid back is more your style, you can do that too! There really are no rules when it comes to your big day and how you plan to celebrate it. You get to choose which formalities to keep and what you want to toss. Simply put, eloping now and partying later checks all the boxes. Intimate and heartfelt exchange of promises and a joyous gathering of all your favourite people. What’s not to love?

If you’re thinking about eloping now and saving the party for later, here are a few things to keep in mind:

  • Have the elopement you want! Make sure your intimate wedding is exactly what you want it to be.

  • It’s ok to change your mind. You might elope now and then realize you don’t actually want the big party.

  • There’s no set timeline! Just because you’ve eloped doesn’t mean you need to have your reception right away. You can push it to 2023 or hold out for your five-year anniversary.

  • If you don’t feel comfortable setting the date, leave it up in the air! There’s no pressure to book right now.

  • If you want something to look forward to, lock down the vendors and book.
